The shortage of public health professionals and healthcare providers is a global crisis. This well-known shortage of health professionals who are qualified to meet the current and future health demands of an intrinsically diversely connected world must be addressed immediately. Because of the varied health disparities, emerging infectious diseases, health crisis and deteriorating health systems, it is even more imperative that health professionals acquire, develop and strengthen basic skills for competencies and aptitudes that are essential for public health practice. Possessing these skills and the capacity to effectively apply them in their daily lives will enable health professionals to successfully respond to emerging health crisis in their communities.

Critical Skills Strengthening

and Capacity BUILDING

Strengthening critical (soft) skills and providing technical capacity development to public health professionals, medical clinicians, and community health workers is high priority.  Additionally, it is imperative that global health and international development organizations provide opportunities for their workforce to obtain, improve, and retain the skills, knowledge, competencies, and resources needed to do their jobs effectively and competently

Critical skills like emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, problem-solving, team player mindset, and flexibility is a great way to make your workforce change-ready, empowered, and in control of their own career development.  Building and developing the capacity of employees is valuable and key to the long-term success of every organization and corporation.  It fosters a greater sense of ownership, self-efficacy, and high performance.  Employees’ confidence, knowledge, mastery of practical skills, and acquisition of resources are strengthened and easily applied to the daily operations of your organization and corporation.

UBUNTU guides global health leadership teams, workforce, and public health and medical career professionals with the strengthening of soft and technical skills as well as capacity building. What do our clients say about us?

"I worked with Hermence during the Ebola crisis in Guinea. While Peace Corps Volunteers had been evacuated from Guinea, our staff remained in place and an interagency agreement was signed to support the CDC. Hermence came to Guinea and helped lead training with WHO for contact tracing team supervisors and health workers in Conakry using her excellent French language skills. This training focused on risk communication skills to negotiate positive citizen cooperation. Pre and post-tests showed strong positive results, and participants reported essential work benefits. In sum, Hermence is a dynamic and effective trainer!”

I have been really impressed by uBuntu’s ability to lead programs. uBuntu used role play, team exercises, and practical examples to emphasize key messages in the sessions. Hermence, the CEO, served as our Atlanta based supervisor during my STOP mission in Haiti. Within this position she conducted a site visit in Haiti where she organized a 2 day workshop to reinforce surveillance capacity of national staff. This meeting brought together key implementing partners on disease surveillance activities such as CDC, WHO, and national priority programs on epidemic prone diseases. Once again Hermence demonstrated her passion for effective communication and skills acquisition in Public Health. As a result, Haitian national health and surveillance workforce was
transformed for the better.

" Hermence has a strong leadership and supervisory skills by providing staff under her supervision with specific direction and responsibilities as well as development and mentoring opportunities. She attaches importance to diversity, inclusion, equity and treats everyone with dignity and respect, encourages diversity”
